Nobody Should Have to Face Life’s Challenges Alone
Support. Education. Opportunity. Community.
The Better Living Project CIC is a community-led, not-for-profit organisation helping people access the support, knowledge and opportunities they need to build safer, healthier and more secure lives.
From housing and financial guidance to training, digital inclusion and community outreach, we work alongside individuals, families and local organisations to help people move forward with confidence.
Because better living starts with knowing where to turn.
Why We Exist
Across our communities, too many people are struggling with problems they should never have to face alone.
Families are living with damp, mould and unsafe housing. People are missing out on financial support because they do not know what help exists. Others are digitally excluded, isolated, overwhelmed or simply unsure where to turn.
Often, the problem is not that support does not exist. It is that the system can be difficult to understand, services can feel disconnected, and people are passed from one organisation to another.
The Better Living Project CIC exists to help close that gap.
We bring information, practical support, education and trusted connections closer to the people who need them. We help individuals understand their options, build confidence and take the next step, while working with communities and partner organisations to create longer-term change.
Support without judgement
People should feel listened to, respected and understood.
Information people can actually use
We turn complicated systems and processes into clear, practical guidance.
Empowerment, not dependency
Our aim is to give people the knowledge and confidence to advocate for themselves.
Community-led change
We train and work alongside local people because communities understand their own challenges best.
How We're Making a Difference
Working alongside individuals, families, communities and partner organisations to create lasting change across the UK.
Housing Support & Tenant Advocacy
We help council and housing association tenants understand their rights, report housing problems effectively and access trusted support where appropriate.
Whether you're experiencing damp, mould, leaks, unsafe conditions or disrepair, we're here to help you understand your options.
Financial Wellbeing & Benefits
Many people are missing out on grants, benefits and government-backed support simply because they don't know what's available.
We help people identify opportunities that may improve their financial wellbeing and quality of life.
Volunteer Training Academy
Our practical training programmes equip volunteers and community representatives with the knowledge, confidence and skills to make a real difference.
Training includes:
• Housing awareness
• Communication
• Community engagement
• Safeguarding
• Digital skills
• Leadership
Digital Inclusion
Technology shouldn't leave anyone behind.
We're helping people build confidence using computers, smartphones and online services, making everyday life more accessible.
Safe Space Community Hubs
We're developing welcoming community hubs where people can access advice, support, training, digital services and simply enjoy a safe place to connect with others.
This is more than a building.
It's a community.
Partnerships & Community Projects
We believe stronger communities are built through collaboration.
That's why we partner with churches, councils, charities, businesses and local groups to deliver projects that create lasting impact.

More Than an Organisation
A community movement helping people build safer homes, stronger communities and brighter futures.
The Better Living Project CIC was founded on one simple belief:
No one should have to face life's challenges alone.
Every day, we meet people who are struggling with unsafe housing, financial pressures, social isolation, digital exclusion or simply not knowing where to turn.
Too often, they have been passed from organisation to organisation without receiving the help they truly need.
We're here to change that.
The Better Living Project brings together compassionate volunteers, trusted professionals, community leaders, churches, councils and partner organisations to provide practical support that genuinely improves lives.
We believe lasting change happens when communities work together, knowledge is shared freely, and people are empowered to become part of the solution.
Our Vision
We envision communities where every person has access to safe housing, trusted advice, meaningful opportunities and a network of people who genuinely care.
Our ambition is to build welcoming community hubs across the UK where people can access support, training, digital skills, wellbeing services and opportunities to give back through volunteering.
Our Values
Rather than the tick list, let's create something much stronger.
❤️ Compassion
We put people before processes.
🤝 Integrity
Honest, transparent and ethical in everything we do.
🎓 Education
Knowledge empowers communities.
🏡 Community
Real change starts locally.
🌱 Opportunity
Everyone deserves the chance to move forward.
💙 Hope
Because better futures are built one person at a time.
Meet Trey Richardson
The Better Living Project CIC wasn't created from a business idea.
It was created from years of listening to people who felt unheard.
Through supporting tenants, working alongside community organisations and witnessing the challenges faced by vulnerable families, Trey Richardson recognised a common problem.
Many people weren't receiving the help they needed, not because support didn't exist, but because they didn't know where to find it or lacked someone to guide them through the process.
That experience inspired the creation of The Better Living Project CIC, an organisation built on compassion, education and community action.
Today, Trey continues to work alongside volunteers, churches, councils, charities and community partners to create opportunities that help people build better lives.
We don't simply provide support.
We help people discover hope, confidence and a path forward.
Because stronger communities begin with people who believe someone is on their side.
Our Impact
❤️ Real Lives. Real Impact.
Every person we help has a different story.
Whether someone needs advice about their housing, support accessing financial assistance, help learning digital skills or simply someone to listen, our goal is always the same:
To leave people feeling more informed, more confident and more hopeful than when they first came to us.
Representative Community Stories
🏠 "I Finally Felt Someone Was Listening"
Sarah, Social Housing Tenant
For nearly three years Sarah reported damp, mould and leaking windows to her landlord. Despite repeated complaints, nothing seemed to change and her young son developed ongoing respiratory problems.
Feeling frustrated and overwhelmed, she contacted The Better Living Project.
Our team helped her understand how to document the issues properly, explained her rights in clear language and introduced her to specialist support where appropriate.
Within weeks she finally felt heard, understood the process and had a clear plan of action.
"For the first time, I felt like someone genuinely cared about what my family was going through."
💻 "I Was Afraid of Technology"
Margaret, Age 74
Margaret had never used online banking, email or video calls. She worried about scams and felt isolated because so many everyday services had moved online.
Through TBLP's Digital Inclusion Programme, a volunteer met with her weekly to build her confidence at her own pace.
She now books appointments online, keeps in touch with her grandchildren by video call and feels much more independent.
"I never imagined I'd enjoy using a laptop. Now I use it every day."
🤝 "Volunteering Changed My Direction"
Daniel, Community Volunteer
Daniel wanted to give something back to his community but lacked confidence and had no previous volunteering experience.
After completing TBLP's Volunteer Academy, he developed communication skills, learned about housing awareness and began supporting local outreach sessions.
Today he's helping other residents access the same support that once helped him.
"The training gave me confidence I didn't know I had."
💷 "Support I Didn't Know Existed"
Angela, Single Parent
With rising bills and increasing financial pressure, Angela assumed she simply had to cope on her own.
After speaking with a TBLP adviser, she learned about several support schemes and local services she hadn't known were available.
That guidance eased immediate financial pressure and connected her with wider community support.
"It wasn't just about money. It was knowing someone cared enough to point me in the right direction."
"I didn’t even know I had the right to claim for the mould and leaks we’d been living with for years. The Better Living Project explained everything clearly, and within weeks I was speaking with a solicitor who actually cared. Thank you for finally giving us a voice!"
Tanisha W., Birmingham
"I joined the volunteer training programme just to get some experience, but it changed everything for me. I now help people in my neighbourhood with real issues, and it’s given me confidence and purpose. The support from the team is amazing."
Daniel A., Manchester
"The team helped my mum get the repairs she needed after years of being ignored. They even told us about government help we didn’t know existed. We finally feel like someone’s on our side."
Sofia R., Leeds
